Attracting a wide range of well qualified candidates is a challengefor any recruiter. That’s why it’s crucial to stand out from the competition—and that starts with how job titles and descriptions are worded.
To meet this challenge, Robert Half has implemented amore “marketing-style” approach, “borrowed from startups.” The firmlimits its offers to a few lines, even a few words, with an impactful anddirect formulation. Important terms appear in bold, and offers aresometimes enriched by testimonials and video. The firm has also askedfor a more attractive communication, using keywords such as:“possibility of rapid evolution,” “attractive remuneration,” or “flexibility ofwork.” In addition, the firm proceeded to a “degenrification” of certainjob titles, which attracted—without obvious reason—mainly women. Inaddition, they also reworked some job titles, such as “RecruitmentConsultant,” which tended to attract applicants with backgrounds inhuman resources. Now worded “Business Developer,” this same positionnow attracts more candidates with entrepreneurial backgrounds.
Following these changes, the number ofapplications received via LinkedIn or by email is much higher. Accordingto the firm, these ads attract more young graduates who are consideredmore “dynamic,” with more diversified experience.
